Data Scientist

My Self: I was a .Net developer (using C# and SQL server to create application) before I join TD. I have been with TD for about 9 years, for the first few years I was still working on .Net Development.
Since 4 years ago, I started working on Data. my previous role was on Phone Channel working n Microsoft data warehouse, we also worked on EDPP. that's the position I realized my strength is to working on Data. I can contribute much more compare being a .Net developer.

Currently I work at Taxonomy team as Senior Data Analyst. we team provide two part of components for the project. First. we work with business and Data Steward to classify all documents (reports and statements) by following retention schedule issues by OCDO (Office of the Chief Data Officer). secondly, when this unstructured data is stored at CMOD or FileNet (both are IBM Content Management System), we will provide standardized design for CMOD/FileNet developer to create the storage for storing the documents.

SQL: I am very experience in SQL, I can design great performance database, writing SQL scripts to identify root cause of either data issue or coding issue. I worked on our CME project last year, my initial assignment is to help with testing, but later on, I expand my role to help contractors to tell them the root cause and how to fix the bug, I also involved to created new ways to generate the report, before we ran the SQL scripts and copy/paste data to Excel, now they just need to click a button to refresh the Excel report, it produce consistent and better look and feel report in just a few seconds and it also eliminate the human error

SAS: I completed an online course at SAS web site a couple of years ago; I know I do use SAS studio to do data loading, analyzing data and produce reports; I never use it at work before. I believe I should be able to use the tool quickly. Expect 2 weeks to start writing SAS program, 4-5 weeks to write professional code.

Why: I have been in level 9 for over 5 years, I am looking forward opportunities to take more responsibilities and doing more fun work. Since I join TD 8 years ago, my target is to become an designer or architect.

Weakness: English is not my first language, it is the major weakness since I moved to Canada over 20 years ago.

Strength: my strength is my technical skill, I am very experienced in designing and writing codes. I am able to trouble shooting design or coding issues.

Vision: to spend more time on the design and doing the coding, but I also want to get involved in doing the code review to make sure that the team will be creating quality code and following best practice. And if possible, I can write some code for the team.

Ready: We currently have 2 resources working on Taxonomy. we cover each other while we are on vacation. So
I think it will be OK if you can give my manager 2-3 weeks to find a my replacement

Manager: Yes, I have discussed with my manager early this year, I told him that I am looking for internal opportunities as data specialist or designer. He is OK for me to move within TD

CTS: great position to be able to work on data warehouse, it is in this job that I realized that my strength is in data (my strong math and analytical thinking background). and I also like to work on data.

Taxonomy: great team, everyone is focusing to get the job done. Also develop my communication skill because I need to attend a lot of meetings and doing presentation after I complete the design.

Your team: can you give me a brief instruction of your team and project? I know that this position is related to AML, but I would like to know more detail about this job.
How many designer and developers are in your team? What kind of project do you develop? How many projects do you maintain?
